JACKSON, Mississippi — Parts of Mississippi are under a flood watch through Tuesday.
The National Weather Service says up to 5 inches of rain are possible in central Mississippi late Monday and Tuesday, combined with very cold temperatures. Highs Tuesday are expected in the lower 40s north and lower 50s in the south. The watch affects several areas from Natchez east to Columbus.
Meteorologists say the rain will switch to a rain-snow mix Tuesday evening that could end as snow late Tuesday and early Wednesday. The weather service says if any accumulation occurs it will do so on elevated and grassy surfaces.
