Arizona Department of Corrections says inmate at Buckeye prison found strangled in a homicide

Share/Save/Bookmark

BUCKEYE, Arizona — The Arizona Department of Corrections says the death of a 59-year-old prison inmate is being investigated as a homicide.

Corrections officials say Gordon Lee died Friday at the Lewis prison complex in Buckeye.

He was serving a 75-year sentence on 1988 convictions in Maricopa County for child molestation.

The DOC says an autopsy conducted by the Maricopa County Medical Examiner shows Lee died as the result of strangulation and the case is being treated as a homicide.

They say the department's Criminal Investigations Unit is handling the probe into Lee's death.
