DOVER, Delaware — Dover Police have arrested a man they say fled from them in a car and on foot after an attempted traffic stop.

Officers say they tried to stop a car about 11:25 a.m. Thursday near Kings Highway and Division Street after learning the driver has a warrant for his arrest. Police say the man led officers on a chase in a car that stopped in an alley.

Authorities say the man got out of the car and ran, but was quickly caught. Police say they found a loaded .38 caliber revolver and 3.6 grams of crack cocaine in the car.

Thirty-four-year-old Anthony Benson of Dover was charged with resisting arrest, drug and weapons offenses, and numerous traffic violations.
