It's Boca Juniors, River Plate tied for first in Argentina; meet next weekend in Superclasico

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina — Boca Juniors and River Plate both won Sunday to share the lead in Argentina's first division, setting up next weekend's match between the two bitter Buenos Aires rivals.

The match — known as the Superclasico — is next Sunday at Boca's La Bombonera stadium.

Boca defeated Lanus 3-1 and River Plate won 4-1 against Banfield. The two have 24 points in 10 games, two ahead of Rosario Central and Belgrano.

Federico Carrizo, Cristian Pavon and Nicolas Lodeiro scored for Boca in the victory at Lanus. Fernando Cavenaghi scored two late goals for River at home to guarantee victory. The club also got early goals from Sebastian Driussi and Ramiro Funes Mori.

Also Sunday: Nueva Chicago 0, Racing Club 0; Aldosivi 1, San Lornezo 0; San Martin 2, Olimpo 0.
