Newtown man to be sentenced for sexually assaulting 4-year-girl, filming it with cell phone

HARTFORD, Connecticut — A Newtown man is facing sentencing for sexually assaulting a 4-year-old girl and taking photos and video of the abuse.

Twenty-nine-year-old Edward Wilson is to be sentenced Wednesday in federal court in Hartford. He pleaded guilty in February to producing child pornography and faces 21 to 26 years in prison under federal sentencing guidelines.

Federal agents say they found more than 270 images and 34 videos of child pornography in Wilson's email account last year while investigating a complaint by America Online. Authorities say Wilson later admitted to sexually assaulting a 4-year-old girl beginning when she was 2 or 3 years old and taking pictures and video of the abuse with his cell phone.

Wilson also faces state sexual assault and child pornography charges pending in Danbury Superior Court.
