Former Colo. DA accused of harassing women in his office to be released from prison early

MONTROSE, Colo. — A former district attorney accused of harassing women in his office is being released from prison early.

The Montrose Daily Press (http://bit.ly/L83rjq) reported Tuesday that Myrl Serra will be released May 29, just four months into a one-year sentence for violating his bond.

His release has been moved up because of good behavior.

After he's released, Serra will still have to serve 60 days in the Montrose County jail. That's part of the sentence he received for unlawful sexual contact and extortion charges.

The former 7th Judicial district attorney entered an Alford plea in October to those charges. He didn't admit guilt but acknowledged that a jury might convict him.
