Teen driver indicted for alcohol, marijuana after hitting 2 pedestrians


HAMPTON, New Hampshire — An 18-year-old Portstmouth man has been indicted on charges he had been drinking and smoking marijuana when he struck two women in June in Hampton Beach.

Foster's Daily Democrat reports ( ) Remi Gross-Santos is charged with two counts of second-degree assault and driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. He also faces charges of transporting alcohol by a minor and possessing drugs.

Police say 69-year-old Karen Weinhold and 60-year-old Lisa Beaudry, both of Hampton, were injured when Gross-Santos swerved into the oncoming lane around 7:15 a.m. on June 12 and hit them.

Gross-Santos has been free on $25,000 bail. A phone listed in the Gross-Santos name in Portsmouth was disconnected.
