DALLAS — Cold, icy weather in West Texas has moved on but lingering power outages could mean no electricity for some homes and businesses through Thanksgiving.
About 5,600 customers of three utilities were still without power Wednesday afternoon as crews worked to restore service.
Sharyland Utilities LP reported about 3,000 customers without electricity in its West Texas service areas as repairs continue following weekend storms.
Dallas-based Oncor (ON'-kor) reported almost 1,600 outages, mainly in the Midland-Odessa and Fort Worth areas. Oncor says electricity might not be restored to all West Texas customers until late Thursday night.
AEP Texas had about 1,000 outages Wednesday, mainly in the Alpine area.
