LOS ANGELES — A woman has been shot to death in a house in south Los Angeles.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Sgt. Angel Fisher says deputies responded to the shooting at a house in the 1400 block of West 154th Street in Compton about 7:30 p.m. on Thursday and found a woman with a gunshot wound.

Compton fire officials pronounced her dead at the scene. Fisher did not have any information on what events had preceded the woman's death.

Homicide detectives are investigating and were at the scene late into the night Thursday talking to people.

Suspect information was not immediately available and no one has been arrested.

Coroner's investigators have not yet arrived on scene.

Authorities are requesting anyone with information to contact investigators.
