CHARLESTON, West Virginia — Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin has named Mary Jane Pickens as the state's new acting secretary of administration.

Tomblin announced the appointment Wednesday to replace former acting secretary Jason Pizatella, who resigned to run for state auditor.

Pickens previously served as deputy secretary for the Department of Administration.

She also served as the Board of Risk and Insurance Management executive director, and will continue in that role. Pickens also served as general counsel of the West Virginia Offices of the Insurance Commissioner from 2003 to 2011.

She has worked in a number of legal practice areas in both the private and public sectors.

Her appointment is effective immediately.
