McClatchy posts first-quarter loss of $11.3 million

SACRAMENTO, California — McClatchy Co. (MNI) on Friday reported a loss of $11.3 million in its first quarter.

The Sacramento, California-based company said it had a loss of 13 cents per share. Losses, adjusted for severance costs, came to 10 cents per share.

The media company and owner of The Kansas City Star posted revenue of $257.2 million in the period.

The company's shares closed at $1.53. A year ago, they were trading at $5.96.
