LAFAYETTE, Louisiana — A 13-year-old boy is recovering after being shot early Wednesday.
Lafayette Police say the shooting happened about 1:20 a.m. Deputies responded to a call of multiple gunshots and found the boy with a single gunshot wound to the torso.
The Advertiser reports (http://bit.ly/1e0UItW ) the child was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
KATC-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1aSDYAQ ) police said the victim had traveled from Baton Rouge with an adult relative to meet a girl he met through the social networking site, Facebook. Authorities say the three people were visiting in a car just down the road from the girl's home when a car pulled up behind them and shots were fired.
No one else was injured.
