Police: Suspect arrested in Sept. 20 fatal shooting in Tucson; Accused of 2nd-degree murder

TUCSON, Arizona — Authorities say a suspect is in custody in connection with a homicide in Tucson last month.

Tucson police announced Wednesday that 29-year-old James Rushing III has been booked into the Pima County Jail on suspicion of second-degree murder.

Police say 34-year-old Hinh Hoang was at an apartment with several other people on Sept. 20 when he became involved in a verbal altercation with Rushing.

Investigators say at some point in the argument, Rushing pulled out a gun and allegedly shot Hoang before fleeing the scene.

Police say Hoang was transported to a hospital, where he later died.

Detectives issued a felony arrest warrant for Rushing, who was located Monday and arrested without incident.

It's unclear if Rushing has a lawyer yet.
