Sioux Falls jurors convict woman of not paying taxes on $600,000 from exotic dances

SIOUX FALLS, South Dakota — Federal jurors in Sioux Falls have convicted a woman of not paying taxes on more than $600,000 earned from exotic dances over four years.

Court documents show 42-year-old Veronica Fairchild, of Canistota, and Okoboji, Iowa, was found guilty last week of four counts of tax fraud.

Each charge carries a maximum penalty of three years in custody and a $250,000 fine.

Prosecutors say she filed late tax returns in 2010 from 2005 through 2008 and claimed the unreported income from performing private shows as an exotic dancer was a gift.

Fairchild could not be reached and her defense attorneys did not immediately return phone calls seeking comment.
