HUNTINGTON, West Virginia — Citations against property owners are mounting as Huntington continues a crackdown on outdoor junk, trash, weeds and high grass.
WSAZ-TV (http://bit.ly/NzbDvJ ) reports that the city has issued more than 1,900 citations since a cleanup ordinance went into effect July 1, 2013. The ordinance allows citations to be issued on the spot.
Previously, owners had 10 days to clean up their properties before they received citations.
Police Capt. Hank Dial says the goal is to improve the city's look, and not to make money.
