Former worker to repay money embezzled from Wayne PSD, avoids jail time

WAYNE, West Virginia — A former employee is repaying nearly $62,000 embezzled from the Northern Wayne Public Service District.

Wayne County prosecutor Tom Plymale tells WSAZ-TV (http://bit.ly/13KEOjz ) that 28-year-old Tiffani Petry of Kenova agreed to repay the money if she received probation. She has repaid $28,000 so far.

Plymale says Petry pleaded guilty last week to four embezzlement counts. She was indicted on 22 counts in March.

According to the indictment, more than 34,000 was embezzled from the PSD between July 5, 2011, and July 13, 2012. Plymale says a follow-up audit found that the total was nearly $62,000.
