PHOENIX — Bond is set at $1 million for a Phoenix man accused of fatally shooting his roommate last weekend.

Phoenix police say 40-year-old George Minter is being held on suspicion of second-degree murder.

They say Hector Silvain was found lying in a street Saturday with multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police say Minter told officers that he allowed Silvain to use one of the bedrooms in an apartment Minter rented in exchange for heroin which they both used and sold.

But the relationship soured and Minter wanted Silvain to move out of the apartment.

Police say there was a struggle in the apartment and gunshots were fired.

Minter did not have an attorney at his court appearance Tuesday.
