Upstate NY man pleads guilty in crash the killed couple, left 2 young children orphaned

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York — A 23-year-old man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter for the crash that killed a Hudson Valley couple last summer and left their two young children orphaned.

The Poughkeepsie Journal reports (http://pojonews.co/1a6zMkg ) that Ryan Floryan pleaded guilty Wednesday in a Dutchess County court to two counts of manslaughter. He faces 6½ to 13 years in prison when he's sentenced July 30.

Floryan admitted he was driving recklessly while trying to avoid Poughkeepsie police last Aug. 1 because he was wanted on parole violations. He ran a red light and collided with a vehicle carrying the Wonderly family.

Parents Shawn and Patricia Wonderly were killed. Their 8-year-old son and 9-year-old daughter suffered serious injuries. The children live with relatives.
