NORTH LINDENHURST, New York — Police say a Long Island driver is dead after he swerved into oncoming traffic and hit another car head-on.

The accident happened at about 7 p.m. Friday in North Lindenhurst.

Suffolk County police say 23-year-old Jennifer Ginexi was driving a Ford Fusion when she was struck head-on by a Honda Civic driven by 26-year-old Karim Abouelfadl.

Police say Abouelfadl's car had entered into Ginexi's lane.

Abouelfadl, of Lindenhurst, was taken to Nassau University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Ginexi, of North Babylon, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip with non-life threatening injuries.
