STARKVILLE, Mississippi — The Starkville School District Board of Trustees has unanimously named Eric Heiselt, the director of educational outreach and support programs within Mississippi State University's school of engineering, school board president for the year.

The Commercial Dispatch reports (http://bit.ly/1wBpebk ) Heiselt will lead the board as it merges with Oktibbeha County School District during the July 1 state-mandated consolidation.

Heiselt will replace former board President Lee Brand Jr., who will remain on the board after being unanimously reappointed by aldermen last month.

The board also voted this week to name Jenny Turner as vice president, Keith Coble as secretary and Juliette Weaver-Reese as assistant secretary.

Heiselt said serving with the school board since 2011 has been an enjoyable experience. Leading it, he said, is a privilege.
