LARAMIE, Wyoming — Wyoming will host California and nine Mountain West Conference home games during the 2015-16 men's basketball season.

The Cowboys will have seven nonconference games at home, according to the schedule released Wednesday.

The reigning conference tournament champion Cowboys play their sixth season under head coach Larry Shyatt.

"This is one of the youngest teams I've ever been a part of, but we've committed to play the most amount of nonconference road games in my tenure to prepare them for league play," Shyatt said in a statement. "We did this intentionally to strengthen our RPI and put this team in learning situations. In nonconference we'll play Montana State in a home and home to simulate league play and back-to-back days in a Las Vegas tournament to prepare us for the league tournament."

Highlights of Wyoming's conference schedule include opening at San Diego State on Dec. 30 in a rematch of last season's conference title game.

Several prominent conference foes visit the Arena-Auditorium on Saturdays. UNLV visits on Jan. 9, Boise State on Jan. 23, Colorado State on Jan. 30 and Utah State on Feb. 6.

Other notable MW games in the Double A include San Diego State on Feb. 24.

The conference road schedule also includes the Cowboys at New Mexico on Jan. 16 at CSU on Feb. 20.

Pac-12 power California will make its first trip to Laramie on Dec. 5.

The Cowboys also will play Montana State twice, once at Billings, Montana, on Nov. 22 and then in Laramie on Nov. 28.

The Mountain West tournament is set for March 9-12 in Las Vegas.
