FARMINGVILLE, New York — Prosecutors say a man arrested in the death of his girlfriend on Long Island had stabbed her more than 20 times.

Charles Pray, of Bay Shore, was arraigned Tuesday on a murder charge in the slaying of 36-year-old Monica Lino. The mother of two was found dead in her Farmingville home on Sunday.

Prosecutors say Pray confessed to the killing. They say he fled the scene in a stolen car after the stabbing and was later found collapsed in the street next to another stolen car after fleeing the scene of an accident.

Defense lawyer Steven Politi told Newsday (http://nwsdy.li/1oHb56m ) Pray was attacked by Lino and that he had stab wounds to his hands, arms and torso.

Pray did not enter a plea. He faces life in prison if convicted.
