D'Iberville man sentenced to prison for defrauding Nationwide Insurance Co.

BILOXI, Mississippi — A 35-year-old D'Iberville man has been sentenced to prison and ordered to repay over $6,000 to Nationwide Insurance Co. for defrauding the company on medical bills involving claims on two auto accidents.

Circuit Judge Lisa also ordered James Eric Reed to a three-year prison term and to pay $2,000 to cover court costs and costs of the investigation. She suspended one year of the prison term, leaving two years to serve.

The Sun Herald reports (http://bit.ly/151ubGh ) Reed was sentenced this week in Harrison County Circuit Court on a guilty plea to two counts of insurance fraud.

The claims involved a rear-end collision in D'Iberville on March 30, 2011, and a crash in Gulfport on June 20, 2011.
