CSU's governing board gives initial OK for 9 percent tuition increase for in-state students

FORT COLLINS, Colorado — Colorado State University's governing board has given preliminary approval of a 9 percent increase in tuition for in-state students next school year.

The Coloradoan reports (http://noconow.co/18HTLlS ) that under the plan, students from Colorado will pay $619 more, or $7,494.80 total. Nonresident tuition will rise 3 percent — or $680 — to $23,347 for the year.

The 2013-14 university system budget goes before the governing board for final approval in June.

CSU's in-state tuition has increased every year since 1970, and nonresident undergraduates have paid more each year since 1985.

In comparison, resident undergraduates at the University of Colorado at Boulder will pay $8,760 in tuition next year.
