SPRINGFILED, Illinois — Illinois Treasurer Dan Rutherford says he'd like voters to see an independent investigation over allegations of misconduct that his lawyers are keeping private for now.
The treasurer made his comments at a candidates' forum in Springfield on Tuesday.
A former employee last week filed a federal lawsuit accusing Rutherford of sexual harassment and forcing him to do campaign work on state time.
The Chenoa Republican ordered an outside investigation that he said would clear his name. His lawyer later said the report's findings would only be released through the courts.
Rutherford said Tuesday he is "working on" making the report public and wants the information "out there."
