GLASGOW, Scotland — Celtic moved three points clear in the Scottish Premiership by beating Ross County 1-0 thanks to Kris Commons' deflected second-half goal on Saturday.

The champions took advantage of second-place Aberdeen's 1-1 draw at St. Johnstone on Friday by registering a fourth straight league win. Celtic also has a game in hand.

Commons scored the winner in the 52nd minute when his long-range strike hit a defender and looped over Ross County's goalkeeper into the net.

Celtic's league campaign will be put in hold next weekend when it takes on fierce rival Rangers in a League Cup semi-final at Hampden Park. It will be the first Glasgow derby in nearly three years.
