Encinitas house with drug history burns, woman and dog found dead, man hospitalized with burns

ENCINITAS, California — The bodies of a woman and large dog were found and a man was hospitalized after fire destroyed an Encinitas home authorities say had a history of drug complaints and arrests.

San Diego County medical examiner officials tell the San Diego Union-Tribune ( the woman was 23 but her identity's not being released yet. Sheriff's spokeswoman Jan Caldwell says the mastiff named Max was found outside the front door.

Thursday's 4 a.m. fire also injured a man, found on the front porch. He was taken to the University of California San Diego Medical Center burn unit with burns and cuts to his body.

In December, deputies raided the home, arresting six people. Caldwell says the most recent arrests there were made two weeks ago.
