Officers search for inmate who escaped from Greene County prison

MAURY, North Carolina — Police are searching for an inmate who escaped from a prison in Greene County.

Public Safety Department spokesman Keith Acree said in a statement that 34-year-old Timothy Hardee was reported missing early Thursday afternoon.

Acree said Hardee was serving a sentence for resisting arrest, injury to property and providing false information to an officer. Hardee had been scheduled to be released in June.
