Massachusetts man pleads guilty to robbing bank, threatening to shoot teller

BARNSTABLE, Massachusetts — A Cape Cod man has pleaded guilty to charges that he robbed a bank and threatened to shoot the teller.

The Cape Cod Times reports (http://bit.ly/1J83B2n ) 58-year-old Joseph Monteiro, of Falmouth, pleaded guilty Thursday in Barnstable Superior Court to armed robbery, threatening to commit a crime and a charge related to a separate incident.

Monteiro was arrested in 2014 a few hours after he allegedly robbed First Citizens Federal Credit Union. Police say he entered the bank, demanded money from the teller and then threatened to shoot her.

Police say a search of his home found clothing worn during the robbery and $2,700 in cash.

Monteiro's attorney says a sentencing date has not been set.
