EAGLE, Colorado — Authorities say an Indiana man whose body was found north of Vail about three weeks after he became separated from fellow hikers fell to his death.

Eagle County Coroner Kara Bettis said Monday that 39-year-old James McGrogan died of multiple injuries, including head trauma. His death has been ruled an accident.

McGrogan, of Chesterton, Indiana, disappeared March 14, and his body was found Thursday by a group of backcountry skiers about 4 1/2 miles from the trail. He was a physician who recently returned to Indiana from Wisconsin to work in the emergency room of St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka (mish-ah-WAH'-kuh).
