Deans at Kent St, Tenn.-Chattanooga and Coll. of Charleston named Winthrop president finalists

ROCK HILL, South Carolina — The three finalists to be the next president of Winthrop University are all deans at other schools.

The university announced the finalists Wednesday.

They are University of Tennessee at Chattanooga College of Arts and Sciences Dean Jeff Elwell; Kent State University College of Education, Health and Human Services Dean Daniel Mahony; and College of Charleston School of Business Dean Alan Shao.

All three men will come to the Rock Hill campus in the next few weeks for interviews.

The school is looking to replace Jamie Comstock Williamson who was fired by trustees last summer after only a year on the job. They say Williamson violated the university's nepotism policy, lied and was demeaning and rude.
