PARIS, Kentucky — A train has derailed in central Kentucky sending three cars into a creek.

Authorities at the scene told WKYT-TV (http://bit.ly/1vRoRCi) that the incident caused Main Street in Paris to be closed for a couple of hours Monday morning, but it reopened around 7.

Paris Fire Department Battalion Chief Jeff McFarland says one of the biggest concerns is the train was carrying coal and now that is in the creek. He says the Kentucky Division of Water will handle that situation.

Police say it appears that the ground under the tracks gave way, causing the three cars to derail. Seven cars were still on the tracks.
