PHOENIX — A suspect arrested in a fatal shooting at a Phoenix apartment complex is being held without bond.

Phoenix police say 27-year-old Tawon Woodruff was taken into custody Monday at a motel.

He was booked into jail on suspicion of second-degree murder and misconduct involving weapons.

Woodruff didn't have a lawyer at his initial court appearance Tuesday.

He's suspected of shooting 30-year-old Kenneth Kinard on Sunday night.

Police say the shooting stemmed from an ongoing dispute between the two men, who have a history of bad blood between them.

They say the two later began arguing again and the confrontation became physical and Kinard was shot.

Kinard was taken to a hospital, where he died.

Police say the shooter fled the scene but was later identified and located at a motel.
