Man shot and killed in Azusa police shooting after break-in at neighbor's house

AZUSA, California — A man was shot and killed after a confrontation with police following a break-in at his neighbor's house.

The San Gabriel Valley Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1BwsJSP ) that the 24-year-old man died at a hospital following the shooting Sunday. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide Bureau is investigating the incident. The man's name has not been released.

Lt. Holly Francisco says a family member called 911 after one of her family members was acting erratically and had injured himself. Later the call was updated that the suspect was breaking into a house nearby.

When officers arrived at the scene they found the suspect and an officer-involved shooting occurred. Francisco says no other details about the shooting were available as investigators had yet to interview the officer involved.
