Advisory issued as gusty, dry Santa Ana winds blow into Southern California

LOS ANGELES — A wind advisory is posted for much of Southern California as dry and gusty Santa Ana winds blow through the region, accompanied by above-normal temperatures.

The National Weather Service says the advisory is in effect through 2 p.m. Monday for mountain and valley sections of Los Angeles and Ventura counties. In Orange County, the wind advisory is set for foothill regions.

Gusts between 40 and 50 mph are predicted for some areas. Drivers are urged to use caution on and around the 14 Freeway in the Antelope Valley and on the Interstate 5 corridor in the San Gabriel Mountains.

Temperatures in the 80s and low 90s are predicted for the valleys. A cooling trend is expected by mid-week.
