POUGHKEEPSIE, New York — David Laury and A.J. English both scored 22 on Sunday to lead Iona to an 86-67 win over Marist and at least a share of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference regular-season crown.
Iona (19-8, 16-2) used a 33-11 run to take a 77-56 lead on Sean Armand's layup with 5:46 to go, and Marist (11-17, 8-10) never challenged from there
Laury also had nine rebounds for Iona, which out-rebounded Marist 38-27. Sean Armand had 16 points, Tre Bowman scored 11 and Isaiah Williams added 10.
The Gaels led 41-38 at halftime, but fell behind to Marist early in the second at 45-44 on Chavaughn Lewis' dunk with 18:24 to go.
Khallid Hart had 18 points to lead the Red Foxes, who shot only 3 of 22 from 3-point range. Lewis finished with 17, Jay Bowie 14 and Adam Kemp 10.
