WYNOT, Nebraska — Officials in northeast Nebraska say two people have been killed in a head-on crash on state Highway 12 near Wynot.

The Cedar County Sheriff's Office says in a news release that deputies were called just after 3 p.m. Friday to the crash site three miles west of the intersection of Highway 12 and Highway 57.

Investigators say a car driven by 22-year-old Mollie Schieffer, of Fordyce, was eastbound when it crossed the center line and collided head-on with a pickup driven by 63-year-old Bradley Schumacher, of Crofton.

Bother Schieffer and Schumacher were pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
