5-year-old North Texas boy dies after accidental gunshot wound to head

DENTON, Texas — Police say a 5-year-old Texas boy has died after he was shot in the head by his older brother.

Denton police spokesman Orlando Hinojosa (ee-noh-HOH'-sah) says the boy died around midday Monday at a Dallas hospital to which he was airlifted Saturday.

Hinojosa said the child's 8-year-old brother shot him with a .22-caliber rifle he found inside the family home around 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

Two adults and other children were at home when the shooting occurred. Hinojosa said police are investigating the incident as an accident and no charges have been filed. He that that could change, though.

Denton is about 40 miles north of Dallas.
