Long Island 18-year-old killed in motorcycle crash

EAST FARMINGDALE, New York — An 18-year-old is dead after he crashed his motorcycle into a pole on Long Island.

Suffolk County police say the accident happened at 2:40 a.m. Saturday in East Farmingdale.

They say James Barnett of Bay Shore was making a left turn when he lost control of his motorcycle and struck a pole.

Barnett was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Bethpage, where he was pronounced dead.

The motorcycle was impounded for a safety check.
