28th annual Virginia Film Festival to kick off in Charlottesville


CHARLOTTESVILLE, Virginia — Actress and Academy-Award winning director are the top guests at this year's Virginia Film Festival.

The 28th annual festival kicks off in Charlottesville on Thursday. It extends through Sunday.

Ryan is making her directorial debut for "Ithaca," which was filmed in Virginia.

Stone will host a screening and discussion of his film "Born on the Fourth of July," which earned him an Academy Award for best director.

More than 100 films will be featured over the course of the festival, which is presented by the University of Virginia.
