Troopers investigate apparent accidental shooting death of Palmer man on Montague Island

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — A 66-year-old Palmer man is dead after an apparently accidental shooting on Montague Island in Prince William Sound.

The Anchorage Daily News reports (http://is.gd/9o5yxG) Alaska State Troopers identified the victim Monday as Frederick Fruhwirth. They learned of the shooting Friday.

An autopsy is being performed, and troopers continue to investigate.

An agency spokeswoman says there are no indications of foul play, but they are waiting for autopsy results.

She said no other information about the case, including who called 911 or if he was alone or in a group, is being released.
