Damien Wilson scores 21 points, Kennesaw State turns back Stetson 61-56

DELAND, Florida — Damien Wilson scored 21 points and Kennesaw State made the crucial plays in the closing minute to defeat Stetson 61-56 on Saturday.

Nigel Pruitt converted a three-point play with 1:01 left to give the Owls a 56-51 lead and then after a missed free throw Wilson started a fastbreak that led to his breakaway dunk for a 58-51 lead.

Grant Lozoya countered with a 3-pointer for the Hatters with 38 seconds left and then Yonel Brown was fouled, but the league's leading foul shooter missed the front end. However, after a Stetson miss, Willy Kouassi, a 38-percent free throw shooter was fouled and he made both, making it 50-54 at 17 seconds.

Bernard Morena added 15 points, including 11 in the first half as the Owls (10-19, 4-8 Atlantic Sun) led 36-28.

Lozoya led the Hatters (8-20, 2-10) with 19 points and Kentwan Smith had 10 with 16 rebounds.
