Mexican man arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle nearly 41 pounds of cocaine into Arizona

NOGALES, Ariz. — Federal authorities say a Mexican man has been arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle nearly 41 pounds of cocaine into Arizona.

Customs and Border Protection officers say the 32-year-old man was taken into custody Wednesday at the Dennis DeConcini Port in Nogales.

Officers referred the man for a secondary inspection of his truck after a CBP narcotics dog detected drugs.

A search led to the discovery of 17 packages of cocaine, valued at almost $372,000.

The drugs and vehicle were processed for seizure. The man was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations. His name and hometown wasn't immediately released.
