MISSOULA, Montana — A 63-year-old man from Wolf Creek was struck and killed after running in front of a semi tractor-trailer on Interstate 90 northwest of Missoula.

The Montana Highway Patrol reports a woman from Michigan was driving the Kenworth truck shortly after 12 a.m. Friday when she swerved to avoid hitting an object she saw in the road.

When the driver got close she could see it was a person. The patrol says the man got up and ran in front of the semi. The driver couldn't avoid hitting him. He died at the scene.

The victim's name has not been released.

The driver of the semi and her passenger were wearing their seat belts and were not injured.
