OKLAHOMA CITY — Oklahoma City police say a man was killed when two officers opened fire on him after a short auto chase.

Capt. Paco Balderrama says Sgt. Keith Sweeney and Officer Steven Cholity shot at 37-year-old Glenn Lewis early Wednesday when Lewis accelerated his vehicle toward them.

Balderrama says the chase began when a driver refused to stop for a traffic violation. Balderrama says the vehicle slowed at one point and a passenger got out and was later arrested. He says the driver then continued on until reaching the end of a dead-end street where he turned around and drove toward officers, who opened fire.

He says the officers were arresting Lewis when they saw he had been shot. Lewis was pronounced dead at the scene and both officers are on administrative leave.
