PASCAGOULA, Mississippi — Pascagoula Mayor Jim Blevins says officials hope to complete renovation of the Round Island Lighthouse by midsummer.

He tells WLOX-TV (http://bit.ly/15qWBAU ) that the stairway, inside brickwork and masonry, and the lighting are being completed.

More than $1 million in state, federal and local money has been spent on the makeover.

Blevins says engraved bricks are being sold to help raise money to finish landscaping and open the lighthouse.

The mayor says volunteers also are needed to help open the lighthouse and staff it when it's open to tourists.
