State police: 2 vehicle crash on US 167 in Jackson Parish claims life of Jonesboro woman

QUITMAN, Louisiana — State police are investigating a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 167 in Jackson Parish that claimed the life of a 56-year-old Jonesboro woman.

Trooper Brett Davis says a car driven by Maraine Hall was attempting to enter U.S. 167 from La. Highway 155 Wednesday and pulled directly in front of a car driven by 49-year-old Michael Cunningham of Monroe.

Davis says Cunningham attempted to avoid collision but was unable to do so. Cunningham's car struck Hall's car in the driver's door.

Davis says Hall was not wearing her seatbelt and suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash.

Cunningham was wearing his seatbelt and received moderate injuries. He's being treated at Jackson Parish Hospital.
