LEESVILLE, Louisiana — Probation officers have a mandatory meeting for supervised sex offenders in Vernon and Beauregard parishes during peak trick-or-treating hours on Halloween.

The Leesville District Probation and Parole Office says it will keep sex offenders away from children and let officers update official records, explain new and revised laws, and review compliance.

The meeting will be from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday.

The Leesville Daily Leader reports (http://bit.ly/10zTrJo ) that any who are ill or working during those hours must have a verified excuse.

It's mandatory only for sex offenders being supervised by the probation and parole office.

However, officials say other sex offenders are invited. They note that those people also could benefit from the legal updates, and would avoid any allegations of misconduct during trick-or-treating hours.
