LONG BEACH, California — A small plane crashed into a perimeter fence at Long Beach airport but the pilot received only minor injuries.
Fire Department spokesman Jake Heflin tells the Press-Telegram (http://bit.ly/1Gw58ku) that the accident apparently happened as the aircraft was landing around 9 p.m. Thursday.
The crash left the crumpled wreckage of the single-engine plane straddling a chain-link fence.
The pilot was taken to a hospital for examination although his injuries were minor. Heflin says a passing motorist who was hit by debris was evaluated at the scene but did not need to be taken to a hospital.
