2 injured when small plane crashes near South Florida expressway

CORAL SPRINGS, Florida — Two people have been injured after their small plane crashed off a busy South Florida highway.

Coral Springs police did not release the conditions of the two injured in Sunday's plane crash about a mile north of the Sawgrass Expressway.

Parkland Mayor Michael Udine tweeted there was black smoke coming from the crash site. Local TV news footage showed the charred remains of the small plane.

No other details were released.
